Edinburg Library Hosts Boundless
Book Release and Poetry Festival Kickoff
EDINBURG, TX – The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library invites the public to attend the opening reception of the 11th Annual Rio Grande Valley International Poetry Festival and the book release of Boundless 2018, the anthology for VIPF. The event is scheduled for Thursday, April 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Friends Meeting Room of the library.
Boundless includes poets from across Texas and the U.S. as well as poets from around the world—and it features a youth section from Valley students. Copies of the anthology will be available for $10 while supplies last.
The Rio Grande Valley International Poetry Festival was established in 2008. Since its inception, the four-day event that was created by Art That Heals, Inc., in partnership with El Zarape Press, has been held annually the last weekend of April—in celebration of National Poetry Month.
Come meet 2018 McAllen Laureate Poet Edward Vidaurre, the emcee and director of operations for VIPF. Vidaurre is an emerging voice in the Latino literature and Beat poetry communities. He is the author of four poetry collections, including Chicano Blood Transfusions.
Joining Vidaurre on stage will be featured poets Nathan Brown, Laura Peña, Eddie Vega, and Robin Carstensen, along with several other poets who will read their poems from Boundless 2018—available on Amazon—including Trevor Wainwright, a poet attending from England.
