For those parents who haven’t already registered their children, tweens or teens for the Summer Reading Program there will be given an opportunity to do so that afternoon, children must be registered by a parent or legal guardian.
The Library’s Summer Reading Program is an annual event specially geared to encourage participants of all ages to continue reading during the summer in an effort to avoid the “Summer Slide’, that happens when readers stop reading during the summer, experts say that those who stop reading during the summer are more apt to lose reading skills while those that do maintain and sometimes increase their reading, comprehension and vocabulary skills that help ensure continued reading success.
If you want your child to continue to build on what they learned this year, register them for the Summer Reading Program at the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library or at our Kick Off event.
