Lance Corporal Derek Hernandez

Marine Corps, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force. LCpl Hernandez was killed in action on June 6, 2010 while supporting a combat operation in the Helmand province of Afghanistan. He is laid to rest at the Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr, Texas. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
