The City of Edinburg presents
Military Enlistment Recognition Ceremony
The City of Edinburg Cultural Arts Department, in partnership with the Veterans Committee, invites the community to attend the Military Enlistment Recognition Ceremony on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Arts, Culture & Events Center, located at 315 W. McIntyre St.
The meaningful ceremony will honor graduating high school seniors who have committed to serve in the United States Armed Forces, recognizing their courage, sacrifice, and dedication to country. Students, families, educators, and community leaders will gather to celebrate these individuals as they take the next step in their journey of service.
Edinburg proudly stands as a Hometown of Heroes, and this annual ceremony continues the City’s tradition of honoring those who choose to serve. Participants will be formally recognized across all branches of service, including the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard, joining a legacy of distinguished local service members such as Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Alfredo “Freddy” Gonzalez.
“This ceremony is an important way for our community to recognize the next generation of service members,” said Mayor Omar Ochoa. “These students represent courage, commitment, and the best of Edinburg’s values. We encourage all eligible students to register and allow us to honor them properly as they prepare to serve our nation.”
Families will also be honored during the ceremony for their support and sacrifice, followed by the Retirement of Colors and Closing Remarks. The City of Edinburg encourages all qualifying students and their families to take part in this important celebration of service and commitment.
Students who have enlisted are encouraged to register by May 10 at edinburgarts.com/military to be included in this special community recognition event. If you have any questions please contact the Edinburg Cultural Arts Center at 956-388-8224 or email arts@cityofedinburg.com
