Fireman Second Class George Gillard Jr.

Navy, USS Amberjack (SS-219). Gillard was declared Missing in Action or lost at sea February 16, 1943. He is honored at the Tablets of the Missing at Manila American Cemetery in Manila, Philippines and memorialized at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg, Texas. He was awarded the American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and the Purple Heart.
